Silvia Aranda Killed, Man Injured in Big-Rig Crash on Highway 25 [Gilroy, CA]
59-Year-Old Los Banos Woman Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Accident near Bloomfield Avenue
GILROY, CA (May 16, 2024) – Monday afternoon, Silvia Aranda was killed and a man was injured in a big-rig crash on Highway 25.
Authorities responded to the scene around 12:40 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near Bloomfield Avenue, just two miles south of Gilroy.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a northbound 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer struck a Hyundai Elantra. The Hyundai driver was attempting to turn left onto the highway at the time.
First responders pronounced the driver of the Hyundai dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased driver as 59-year-old Aranda, of Los Banos.
Authorities also said the man driving the big-rig sustained minor injuries from the collision. Police do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the incident. An active investigation to determine further information about the fatal semi-truck accident on Highway 25 is still currently underway.
