David Gonzales Dies in Solo-Car Accident on Monroe Street [La Quinta, CA]

27-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Crash near Airport Boulevard

LA QUINTA, CA (May 16, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, David Gonzales was killed in a solo-car accident on Monroe Street.

Just before 2:30 a.m., police officers responded to the scene near Airport Boulevard on May 11th.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, officers arrived at the scene and found a white Kia sedan overturned onto its roof.

Initial investigation showed that the Kia, driven by 27-year-old Gonzales, was heading southbound on Monroe Street approaching Airport Boulevard. For reasons unknown, Gonzales failed to yield at a red light, and lost control of the vehicle.

As a result, he struck a curb and crashed into two trees where he ended up overturned. Responding authorities found Gonzales trapped inside his vehicle with life-threatening injuries.

Due to the extent of his condition, medics later pronounced him dead.

No additional information was provided by authorities, and the crash remains under active investigation. Any witnesses are urged to contact Deputy I. Ramirez at 760-863-8990.
