Janet Carillo Dead, Man Arrested after DUI Collision on Magnolia Street [Garden Grove, CA]
40-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run DUI Crash near Tristan Drive
GARDEN GROVE, CA (May 15, 2024) – Sunday morning, Janet Carillo was fatally struck in a DUI collision on Magnolia Street.
Authorities responded to the scene around 2:00 a.m. on May 12th, in the 11800 block of Magnolia Street.
Officers say the driver of a vehicle lost control and veered off the road before crashing into a home. The suspect trapped a female resident, causing fatal injuries.
First responders pronounced 40-year-old Carillo, a wife and a mother of two teenage boys, deceased at the scene.
Following preliminary duties, crews located the male suspect driver in a nearby neighborhood and arrested him. Although, police have not yet released his identity.
In a press release, the Garden Grove police stated that they believe alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision, and they are awaiting results from the Orange County Crime Lab to confirm.
Police officers described the suspect as a 35-year-old man from Riverside. They are still investigating the cause of the crash. Once available, more details will be provided.
