18-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Crash near Mariposa Road

TUCSON, AZ (May 15, 2024) – Thursday morning, police were dispatched to a high-speed chase on Interstate 19 that killed Bernardo Arango.

The incident took place on the southbound lanes of Interstate 19 around 8:00 a.m., on May 2nd.

According to the Nogales Police Department, officers spotted a stolen Toyota Tacoma traveling at high speeds and attempted to stop it. However, the Tacoma sped up and led officers on a chase.

The suspect driver eventually lost control and overturned several times. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Police later identified him as 18-year-old Arango.

Meanwhile, authorities blocked the surrounding area for several hours. An active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
