26-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Single-Car Collision near West Althea Avenue

DOS PALOS, CA (May 14, 2024) – Early Thursday morning, a solo-car accident on North Russell Avenue took the life of Robert Monreal.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:40 a.m., near West Althea Avenue, just south of Dos Palos. 

For reasons unknown, the driver of a vehicle lost control and veered off the road into a water-filled canal while traveling southbound. 

Responding emergency units along with the water rescue team declared the driver dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol officers later identified the deceased driver as 26-year-old Monreal, from Dos Palos.

Following preliminary duties, officials confirmed that Monreal was the only passenger in the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding the fatal solo-vehicle crash is asked to call the Fresno-area CHP office at (559) 705-2200.
