19-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after SUV Collision on Bent Tree Drive

AMARILLO, TX (May 13, 2024) – Thursday evening, Mikeal Donovan Fierro was fatally struck in a motorcycle crash on Soncy Road.

The incident happened in the area of Soncy Road and Bent Tree Drive around 9:30 p.m., on May 2nd.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, a 2006 Kawasaki Motorcycle rider identified as 19-year-old Fierro was speeding on the northbound Soncy Road.

For reasons under investigation, he crashed into a GMC SUV making an eastbound turn into an alley of Bent Tree Drive near 45th Avenue.

The impact of the collision caused life-threatening injuries to Fierro. Responding authorities pronounced the 19-year-old rider deceased at the scene.

Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Further investigation is being handled by the Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad.
