Man Pronounced Dead after Electric Scooter Vs Car Collision near Shaw Street

LONG BEACH, CA (May 8, 2024) – Early Saturday afternoon, an electric scooter accident on Ximeno Avenue took the life of a male rider. 

The incident occurred around 6:27 a.m., near Shaw Street.

Based on the investigation, the driver of a southbound Ford C-Max struck a man who was riding an electric-scooter. Crews say the man rode through a stop sign when he collided with the vehicle.

Responding medical personnel rushed the male scooter rider to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the female driver involved in the incident stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

Following preliminary duties, officers do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.

At this time, authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased rider, pending notification from the next of kin. Long Beach officials are asking those who witnessed the Ximeno Avenue scooter accident to contact the authorities at (562) 570-7355.
