Man Fatally Injured in Head-On Collision on West Riego Road [Sutter County, CA]
24-Year-Old Man Dead, 55-Year-Old Man Injured after Two-Vehicle Crash near Pacific Avenue
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (May 8, 2024) – Thursday afternoon, one man was fatally injured in a head-on collision on West Riego Road.
Officers responded to the scene around 3:00 p.m., near Pacific Avenue on April 25th. According to reports, a 24-year-old man from Roseville drove his gray Toyota Corolla into the wrong lane on Riego Road.
As a result, the Toyota crashed head-on with a Chevrolet 3500 pickup-truck carrying a Bobcat tractor. Upon arrival, the California Highway Patrol discovered the Toyota driver trapped inside his car.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the male Toyota driver deceased.
Meanwhile, medics transported the 55-year-old man driving the pickup-truck, from Sacramento to UC Davis for further treatment.
Following clearing operations, police do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have played a factor in the crash. No additional information has been released, and further investigation is currently active.
