Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on Monterey Road [San Martin, CA]
56-Year-Old Gilroy Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Roosevelt Avenue
SAN MARTIN, CA (May 7, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian crash on Monterey Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 5:20 a.m., on April 23rd in the road’s southbound lanes near Roosevelt Avenue.
Upon arrival, authorities located a 56-year-old man lying along the southbound lanes. Investigators say the man attempted to cross the road. There, he was struck by a 1998 Ford Windstar, driven by a 55-year-old Morgan Hill man.
Responding authorities pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released his name or place of residency.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Following preliminary duties, officers do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.
