Three Dead, Three Injured after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Berryville
HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (May 6, 2024) – Thursday evening, Douglas Norwood, Janet Norwood, and Carol Mitchell died in a multi-car crash.
Just before 5:00 p.m., police officers responded to the scene on State Highway 155 near Berryville on April 18th.
Per reports, 84-year-old Douglas was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion with 78-year-old Janet as his passenger.
As the Ford was pulling out of a private driveway, the vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way to an oncoming 2014 Honda Accord, driven by 42-year-old Srikar Mapakshi.
The impact pushed the Ford into the southbound lanes where it was struck by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 33-year-old Cassandra Tait, with 71-year-old Carol Mitchell, of Lake Havasu City, and 54-year-old Lisa Crawford, of Palestine as her passengers.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Douglas, Janet and Mitchel deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, crews transported Mapakshi, Tait, and Crawford to the hospital for treatment.
At this time, no other information was added by the authorities, and further investigation remains ongoing.
Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Douglas Norwood, Janet Norwood, and Carol Mitchell.
