Two Pronounced Dead after 18-Wheeler Accident near Highway 317

TEMPLE, TX (May 6, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Abigail Boatwright and Evan Boatwright were killed in a truck-collision on State Highway 36.

Dispatchers received calls around 11:20 a.m., just west of Highway 317 on April 30th.

Upon arrival, multiple agencies discovered that an oversized load with approximately 350,000 pounds detached from the trailer of an 18-wheeler truck.

First responders located a car pinned underneath the trailer with the oversized load. Authorities extricated the occupants, and pronounced 17-year-old Evan, and 22-year-old Abigail dead at the scene.

In addition, another victim from inside the vehicle suffered critical injuries. It took emergency crews over four hours to safely remove the trapped driver from the vehicle.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided.
