Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision on Polk Avenue [Fresno, CA]

Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near Gettysburg Avenue
FRESNO, CA (May 3, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, a hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Polk Avenue took the life of one man.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight, just north of Gettysburg Avenue.
Investigators believe the driver of a vehicle struck the male pedestrian and fled the scene without contacting police officers.
Upon arrival, officers located a male pedestrian suffering from fatal injuries. He was ultimately transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he passed away.
At this time, Fresno Officials only identified the deceased pedestrian as a man in his 40s. Investigators believed the man was struck by an unidentified vehicle while walking in a north direction.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle. Police are asking those who witnessed the fatal Polk Avenue hit-and-run to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
