37-Year-Old Man Arrested after DUI Crash near Sierra-At-Tahoe Road
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (May 2, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, Zachary Leconte was arrested for DUI after colliding with an SUV on U.S. Highway 50.
Officers responded to the scene around 1:00 p.m., just west of Sierra-At-Tahoe Road on April 20th.
According to reports, Zachary M. Leconte, 37, lost control of his 2021 Dodge Van while recklessly navigating a curved road. As a result, the Dodge collided with an eastbound 2015 Toyota Rav-4.
The impact caused the Toyota to roll over, consequently injuring its occupants. The Dodge then collided head-on with a 2013 Honda CR-V in the eastbound lane, blocking traffic.
Both occupants of the Honda, residents of San Jose aged 19, sustained severe injuries and were transported to Barton Memorial Hospital along with Leconte, who suffered minor injuries.
Following preliminary duties, investigators determined that Leconte was under the influence at the time of the crash. As a result, police arrested the suspect for DUI.
