Unidentified Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near Viera Avenue
ANTIOCH, CA (April 30, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Wilbur Avenue claimed the life of a pedestrian.
Police responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m., at the 1800 block of Wilbur Avenue near Viera Avenue after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.
Upon arrival, police officers learned that the driver of a Kia sedan struck male pedestrian for reasons unknown.
After the impact, the involved driver fled the scene immediately without rendering aid or contacting authorities.
Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced the male pedestrian deceased. At this time, his identity remains undisclosed to the public.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
