31-Year-Old Police Officer Pronounced Dead after Car Accident near Campbell Avenue

TUCSON, AZ (April 30, 2024) – Late Sunday evening, Officer Adam Buckner was killed in an on-duty collision on 6th Street.

The incident occurred just before 10:00 p.m., near Campbell Avenue on March 31st.

According to the Tucson Police Department, 31-year-old Buckner was heading north on Campbell Avenue approaching the intersection of 6th Street at a green light. There, another vehicle failed to yield and collided with Buckner.

Investigators also say Officer Buckner had his emergency lights on during that time. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene shortly after.

Paramedics transported 31-year-old Buckner to Banner University Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The other driver suffered minor injuries, and he did not display any signs of impairment.

Moreover, the New Orleans Police Department expressed their grief in a statement. A memorial service was held on April 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the Tucson Police Department Headquarters.
