Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Deadly Crash near 46th Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 30, 2024) – Wednesday morning, one rider was pronounced dead after a bicycle collision on Hooper Avenue.

The LAPD’s Newton Division received a report about a stolen vehicle around 6:00 a.m., near 46th Street on April 24th.

Police attempted to stop the suspect near the intersection of 48th Street and Central Avenue, but the suspect did not comply with authorities, prompting a chase.

As the pursuit continued into the intersection of Hooper Avenue and 46th Street, the suspect crashed into a cyclist and eight vehicles. In addition, the suspect vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof, causing major injuries to its driver.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. Although, their identity has not yet been released.

Moreover, officers say the suspect attempted to flee the scene before police arrested and booked him with felony charges.

Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding roadway for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more details will be provided about the fatal bicycle collision on Hooper Avenue.
