27-Year-Old Male Driver and Female Passenger Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Tumbleweed Road
PHELAN, CA (April 29, 2024) – Sunday evening, Tommy Solis and a woman were killed in a head-on crash at Phelan Road.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m., just east of Tumbleweed Road. California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of an eastbound 2018 GMC Yukon veered left for reasons unknown.
The GMC then the left turn lane and collided with a 2015 Subaru Forester traveling westbound on the same road.
Responding medical personnel declared the 27-year-old Phelan man driving the Subaru dead at the scene.
At the same time, paramedics rushed the 28-year-old Oak Hills woman driving the GMC to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. A passenger from the GMC remained at the hospital for treatment of significant injuries.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased woman.
Phelan Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal head-on crash to contact the CHP’s Victorville Office at (760) 241-1186. Once available, further details will be provided.
