Sean Stewart Killed, 3 Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision on Highway 178 [Bakersfield, CA]
42-Year-Old Onyx Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Doyle Ranch Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 29, 2024) – Saturday, a head-on collision on Highway 178 took the life of Sean Gordon Stewart and left three injured.
Around 10:31 a.m., police officers responded to the scene just west of Doyle Ranch Road between Weldon and Onyx. According to police, the driver of an eastbound Subaru collided head-on with a westbound Toyota for reasons unknown.
Responding medical personnel declared the Subaru driver dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased driver as 42-year-old Sean Gordon Stewart, of Onyx.
Stewart’s 59-year-old passenger, along with the 21-year-old Toyota driver and their 23-year-old passenger were transported to Kern Medical for further treatment.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations. At this time, Bakersfield Officials are asking those who witnessed the crash to contact the California Highway Patrol at 661-396-6600.
