35-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Oxnard Boulevard
OXNARD, CA (April 25, 2024) – Sunday evening, Joey Paquet was killed in a bicycle accident on 101 Freeway.
Dispatchers received calls in the area around 9:40 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway near Oxnard Boulevard.
Based on the initial investigation, the driver of a 2012 Ford Edge made a right turn from the 101 northbound off-ramp and hit a bicyclist traveling southbound.
Responding paramedics declared the bicyclist dead at the scene. Later, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 35-year-old Joey Paquet, of Oxnard.
Police do not suspect speed, alcohol, or drugs to be a factor in the incident. The family of Paquet started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for memorial expenses.
