Five Injured in Multi-Vehicle High-Speed Collision near White Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 24, 2024) – Monday evening, authorities arrested Meylin Rosi Barrera after a street racing crash on Old river Road.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 7:00 p.m., near White Lane on April 22nd.

Investigators say two Camaros were racing when one crashed into the center median and multiple other cars that were stopped at the intersection.

After the impact, one driver continued traveling east on White Lane.

Paramedics arrived and transported three adults and one juvenile to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Although, police have not yet released their identities.

Following preliminary duties, officers were able to locate and arrest 19-year-old Meylin Rose Barrera. Medics also took her to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Upon her release from the hospital, officers booked Barrera into the Lerdo Jail for being involved in an illegal speed contest, reckless driving and child endangerment.

At this time, the driver of the black Camaro is also still at large.

Further investigation remains underway, and anyone with information about the incident are encouraged to report to the BPD at 661-327-7111.
