19-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after DUI Collision near West Tribal Road

VALLEY CENTER, CA (April 24, 2024) – Friday evening, Fernando Porras Abrego was arrested after a fatal DUI accident on Valley Center Road.

Shortly before 8:20 p.m., officers responded to the scene near West Tribal Road on April 19th.

California Highway Patrol says Abrego was driving a white Ford Expedition south on Valley Center Road.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old male driver of a white Toyota Camry was heading east on West Tribal Road. For reasons under investigation, the Ford and the Toyota collided at the intersection.

Due to the impact of the crash, medical personnel pronounced the 19-year-old driver dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim.

Meanwhile, 34-year-old Fernando Porras Abrego did not obtain any injuries from the collision and he was taken to Vista Detention Facility with DUI other related charges.

Further investigation remains ongoing, and any witnesses are urged to call the Oceanside Area CHP office at 760-643-3400. Once available, further details will be provided.
