Guadalupe Chavez Killed, Jose Rosas Involved in Pedestrian Collision on Highway 1 [Moss Landing, CA]
41-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Portero Road
MOSS LANDING, CA (April 23, 2024) – Sunday night, Guadalupe Chavez was fatally struck by Jose Rosas in a pedestrian crash on Highway 1.
The incident happened just before 11:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Portero Road on April 14th.
Investigators reported that 41-year-old Chavez, of Castroville was walking near the intersection. There, 42-year-old Rosas was driving a blue 2012 Hyundai and struck her, propelling her onto the southbound lanes.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Chavez deceased at the scene.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations. Following preliminary duties, officers did not arrest Rosas.
California Highway Patrol Officials asking those who witnessed the fatal pedestrian crash on Highway 1 to contact at 83-1770-8000. Once available, more details will be provided.
At this time, an active investigation to determine more information is still currently underway.
