Unidentified Man Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Crash near Gypsum Canyon Road

YORBA LINDA, CA (April 18, 2024) – Early Monday morning, one man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 91 Freeway.

Around 12:20 a.m., police received dispatch calls on the westbound lanes of the freeway, just east of Gypsum Canyon Road on April 1st.

Authorities reported that a vehicle struck the victim while he was standing in the lanes of the Riverside (91) Freeway in the Yorba Linda area. It is possible that the pedestrian was trying to repair a broken-down vehicle when another vehicle hit him.

According to witnesses, a red sedan was parked on the right shoulder, while a male attempted to make contact with vehicles and prompted them to stop the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes.

At 12:37 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers closed all westbound lanes except for the HOV lanes for clearing operations. At this time, the circumstances that led up to the incident remain unknown.

Currently, an active investigation into the fatal pedestrian crash on Gypsum Canyon Road is underway.
