Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident on Westheimer Road [Houston, TX]
45-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near Sage Road
HOUSTON, TX (April 17, 2024) – Wednesday morning, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Westheimer Road.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m., near Sage Road and The Galleria Mall, on March 27th. First responders arrived to the scene shortly after.
Investigators say the driver of an eastbound white Volkswagen Jetta was traveling through a yellow light. There, the driver struck a male pedestrian who entered the crosswalk against a red light.
Upon impact, the pedestrian landed on top of another vehicle. Witnesses nearby provided first-aid to the man before authorities responded. Paramedics arrived shortly after and transported the 45-year-old man to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Following preliminary duties, officers determined that the driver did not immediately stop. Police say he continued traveling before returning to the scene and cooperating with the investigation.
No charges were filed against the driver, and further investigation into the fatal pedestrian accident on Westheimer Road remains active.
