Chiefs Player and SMU Football Player Arrested after Chain-Reaction Crash near University Boulevard

DALLAS, TX (April 16, 2024) – Saturday, Rashee Rice and Theodore Knox were arrested after a speeding collision on North Central Expressway.

The incident occurred in the 6600 block of North Central Expressway near University Avenue around 6:30 p.m., on March 30th.

Reports indicate that Knox was driving Corvette and Rice was driving a Lamborghini SUV, racing in the northbound lanes, making multiple aggressive maneuvers. Eventually, the high-end vehicles crashed into two additional vehicles while traveling at high rates of speed.

As a result, four victims in the vehicles that were hit sustained injuries. Paramedics transported two occupants to a nearby hospital for further treatment. In addition, medics treated the other two injured drivers at the scene.

Crews also say multiple occupants inside the Corvette and the Lamborghini fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities. In addition, the Lamborghini was traveling at 119 mph prior to the crash.

Officers later determined that the Lamborghini was registered in the name of Rice. Rice is the NFL’s Kansas City Chief Receiver, and the families of those affected plan to press charges.

Now, Rice and Knox face one count of aggravated assault, one count of a collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of a collision involving injury. Rice later surrendered to police and officers booked him into the DeSoto Regional Jail. Shortly after, police released Rice who posted $40,000 in bonds. In addition, SMU has suspended Knox from his team.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Maintain focus on the road, and avoid distractions that could easily lead to dangerous collisions. By practicing safe driving habits, you can help keep yourself and others around you safe.
