84-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Sedan vs Pedestrian Collision near Pierce Street
THERMAL, CA (April 16, 2024) – Tuesday evening, a pedestrian collision on Avenue 70 claimed the life of an 84-year-old man.
Police arrived to the scene around 9:35 p.m., just west of Pierce Street near the Salton Sea.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of an eastbound 2022 Toyota Camry struck a man who stepped into the traffic lanes after walking on the northbound shoulder of the road.
Responding medical personnel declared the 84-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene. However, the identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed to the public.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old male Camry driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Thermal Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal Avenue 70 pedestrian crash to contact the CHP Indio office at 760-772-5300. Once available, further details will be provided.
