1 Killed, 6 Injured in Four-Vehicle Crash on Highway 78 [Borrego Springs, CA]
One Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Borrego Springs Road
BORREGO SPRINGS, CA (April 16, 2024) – Friday evening, one victim was killed and six were hurt in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 78.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 8:47 p.m., just east of Borrego Springs Road.
Currently, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation. However, reports indicate that three motorcyclists and one vehicle were involved in the collision.
Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced one of the occupants dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted one person to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. A teenager was also hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries, while the remaining four patients were treated at the scene.
In the end, the CHP closed all the lanes of Highway 78 in the area until 10:00 p.m. The San Diego County officials will provide more information regarding the four-vehicle collision once available.
