Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Mira Mesa Boulevard [San Diego, CA]
Unidentified Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in SUV Collision near West View Parkway
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 15, 2024) – Monday evening, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Mira Mesa Boulevard.
Police officers responded to the scene at the 9500 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard near West View Parkway around 7:39 p.m.
According to police, the driver of a westbound Ford Expedition SUV struck the man crossing in an unmarked crosswalk on Mira Mesa Boulevard.
Investigators said the victim was in violation of posted signs prior to the collision. First responders transported the male pedestrian to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. However, his name remains undisclosed to the public.
Police said the 70-year-old man driving the Ford remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Although, crews have not yet released his identity.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
At this time, the San Diego Police Department Traffic Division is leading the investigation. Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the incident.
