18-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Mulholland Drive

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 15, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, Julie Welchance was killed in a pedestrian collision on 101 Freeway.

Authorities responded to the eastbound lanes of Ventura Freeway near Mulholland Drive around 5:15 a.m.

According to the police, police officers discovered the victim’s body lying on the roadway. However, it was unclear if the involved driver remained at the scene. 

Later, the county medical examiner’s office identified the deceased pedestrian as 18-year-old Welchance, of El Cajon. 

Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding roadway for a brief time as crews cleared the scene.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the incident have not been disclosed to the public. At around 5:35 a.m., officials issued a SigAlert closing all the southbound lanes of Ventura Freeway. 

No further details regarding the Ventura Freeway pedestrian crash have been released. Los Angeles Officials will provide more information once available.
