Jerry Brantley Dead, Colby McDaniel Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 149 [Rusk County, TX]
17-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Farm to Market Road 782
RUSK COUNTY, TX (April 15, 2024) – Friday, Jerry Brantley was killed and Colby McDaniel was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 149.
The incident occurred just before 8:00 a.m., near Farm to Market Road 782 on March 15th. First responders arrived to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
Preliminary investigation from the Texas Department of Public Safety showed that a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado driven by 17-year-old Brantley was stopped at the intersection.
Meanwhile, a 2019 Ford F-350 driven by 23-year-old McDaniel was heading southeast on State Highway 149.
For reasons under investigation, Brantley made a left turn onto FM 782 where McDaniel crashed into its side. Due to the imapct of the collision, Brantley suffered life-threatening injuries.
Medics arrived and pronounced 17-year-old Brantley deceased. Meanwhile, paramedics transported McDaniel to Longview Medical Center for further treatment of serious injuries.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
