Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle vs Garbage-Truck Collision near Orangewood Avenue

GARDEN GROVE, CA (April 10, 2024)Stephen Douglas Sanders died Tuesday afternoon, in a motorcycle crash on Western Avenue.

Police officers responded to the scene around 1:00 p.m., at the 11700 block of Western Avenue near Orangewood Avenue.

According to police, a 2023 Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a garbage-truck. However, further circumstances that led up to the incident remain unclear. 

Responding medical personnel transported the motorcyclist to local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities later identified the deceased rider as 56-year-old Sanders, of Anaheim.  

Meanwhile, the garbage-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, police do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the collision.

Garden Grove Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal motorcycle crash to contact Investigator John Yergler by email or by calling 714-741-5772. Once available, further details will be provided.
