67-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Collision near University Avenue

LUBBOCK, TX (April 10, 2024) – Early Monday morning, Gay Attebury was killed in a 4-vehicle crash on 19th Street.

Authorities responded to the scene around 6:42 a.m., near University Avenue on April 8th after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

For reasons under investigation, Attebury was driving a northbound vehicle and rear-ended a pickup-truck that was stopped in the turning lane.

The impact pushed the truck into another car in front of it, pushing that vehicle into another truck.

Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel pronounced 67-year-old Attebury dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the other drivers sustained minor injuries, but refused transport to a nearby hospital.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided on the four-vehicle crash on 19th Street.
