38-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead, Children Hospitalized after Single-Car Accident near Mile Post 60

PACIFIC COUNTY, WA (April 9, 2024) – Friday evening, Tracey Koonrad was killed and her children were hurt in a speeding crash on Highway 101.

On March 29th, the husband of Koonrad called police reporting that his wife and children had not returned home.

The search operation began, and authorities located the vehicle just before midnight in the area of US Highway 101, just north of Butte Creek Road.

Due to the extent of her condition, medics pronounced 38-year-old Koonrad dead at the scene.

Paramedics also transported both children inside the vehicle to Harborview Regional Health before crews airlifted them to Harborview Medical Center. Both children were listed in critical condition.

Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding roadway for a brief time during clearing operations.

Following preliminary investigations, crews learned that Koonrad crossed over the center divider into the northbound lanes while traveling at a high rate of speed. There, Koonrad’s vehicle veered off the road and slammed into a tree.

The loved ones of Koonrad set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this devastating time.
