57-Year-Old Man Dead after Pickup-Truck vs Bicycle Collision near Lost Hills Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 9, 2024) – A bicycle accident on Highway 46 claimed the life of Donaciano Bustamante Aldama, early Saturday morning.
The deadly collision happened around 5:44 a.m., near the intersection of Highway 46 and Lost Hills Road. Officers responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple calls in the area.
According to reports, the driver of a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado hit a bicyclist who was riding west on the right shoulder of the highway.
Investigators say the bicyclist was not wearing protective gear at the time.
First responders declared the bicyclist dead at the scene. Later, the Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased biker as 57-year-old Donaciano Bustamante Aldama of Lost Hills.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. It was unclear if the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Bakersfield Officials will provide more information once available.
