Female Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near Orchard Street
SANTA ROSA, CA (April 4, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, one woman was fatally struck in a pedestrian vs pickup-truck crash on College Avenue.
Around 6:15 a.m., police responded to the intersection near Orchard Street after receiving multiple calls in the area.
According to investigators, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup-truck hit a woman crossing the street within a marked crosswalk.
Based on an eyewitness account, the pedestrian did not have the flashing lights at the crosswalk prior to the crash while it was still dark outside.
Responding medical personnel declared the female pedestrian dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Sonoma County resident driving the Silverado remained at the site of the collision and cooperated with the investigators.
Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision. Santa Rosa Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal pedestrian-truck crash to contact Officer Zepeda at (707)-543-3636.
