Paul Resendez Arrested, 2 Officers Hurt after Reckless Pursuit Crash on Speight Avenue [Waco, TX]
39-Year-Old Man Taken into Custody after Police Chase near Mabry Street
WACO, TX (April 2, 2024) – Thursday, Paul Resendez was arrested and two officers sustained injuries in a pursuit crash on Speight Avenue.
Authorities responded to the 3300 block of Speight Avenue near Mabry Street on March 14th after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
According to reports, police attempted to perform a traffic stop on Resendez. However, Resendez failed to comply and sped away from officers, and the pursuit began.
During the pursuit, troopers crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Valley Mills Drive. Medics arrived and treated the two officers and an occupant inside the other vehicle for various injuries.
Following preliminary duties, police eventually arrested 39-year-old Resendez and booked him into the McLennan County Jail. Resendez was charged with assault family violence, parole violation, and evading arrest or detention resulting in serious bodily injury.
