Driver and Passenger Pronounced Dead after DUI Accident near Milwaukee Avenue
LUBBOCK, TX (April 2, 2024) – Wednesday evening, a 2-car accident on Spur 327 killed Blake Garza and Naomi Harry.
Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 10:00 p.m., near Milwaukee Avenue on March 27th.
According to the Lubbock Police Department, Garza was driving east with Harry as his passenger in the 6500 block of Spur 327.
For DUI related reasons, Garza collided with a southbound SUV, driven by 30-year-old Washington. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 18-year-old Harry dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics took 20-year-old Garza to UMC where he later succumbed to his injuries.
During initial procedures, Washington was evaluated by troopers, and he was found to be intoxicated. As a result, he was arrested and taken into the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Following preliminary duties, 30-year-old Washington was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of resisting arrest.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. No other updates have been released at this time, and the LPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is handling further investigation. Once available, more details will be provided.
