Two Pronounced Dead, Suspect Arrested after Motorcycle Accident near Slide Road

LUBBOCK, TX (April 1, 2024) – Friday, Zackery Lowe and Cheyanne Perez died, and Joshua Mendez was hurt in a motorcycle crash on 46th Street.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., police responded to the scene near Slide Road on March 29th.

For reasons under investigation, 23-year-old Mendez was driving in the area and struck the motorcyclist on the southbound lanes. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 31-year-old Lowe and his passenger, 23-year-old Perez dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Mendez suffered minor injuries. Paramedics transported the driver to Lubbock County Detention Center where he faces suspicion of DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

No additional information was added by the authorities, and further investigation remains active.
