Ulises Montoya and Ryan Wallace Killed in School-Bus Collision on State Highway 21 [Hays County, TX]
Two Pronounced Dead, Many Hospitalized after School-Bus Crash on Westbound State Highway 21
HAYS COUNTY, TX (April 1, 2024) – Friday afternoon, Ulises Montoya and Ryan Wallace were killed in a bus collision on State Highway 21.
First responders arrived to the scene on March 22nd, after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.
Investigators say the driver of a cement truck veered into the wrong lanes and collided head-on with the Tom Green Elementary School Pre-Kindergarten bus.
Per reports, the westbound bus carrying 44 students and 11 adults was on its way back from a field trip to the zoo.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 5-year-old Montoya and 33-year-old Wallace who was driving in a vehicle behind the bus, dead at the scene.
In addition, more than 50 people suffered injuries as a result of the collision.
The loved ones of Ulises set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this time. Additionally, a GoFundMe page was created for the injured people. No other updates were provided by the authorities.
Following preliminary duties, the driver of the cement truck admitted to using illegal drugs the morning of the crash. Once available, further details will be provided.
