1 Pronounced Dead after Fiery Auto Collision near Main Street

CHULA VISTA, CA (April 1, 2024) – Early Sunday evening, one occupant was fatally struck in a car accident on Interstate 5.

Authorities responded to the scene around 5:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Main Street.

The events leading up to the collision remain unclear. In addition, one of the involved vehicles caught fire.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced one of the occupants dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Emergency crews diverted traffic onto Palomar Street as crews cleared the scene before it was later reopened to traffic.

No further details regarding the Interstate 5 crash have been released to the public at this time. Chula Vista Officials will provide more information once available.
