42-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Rear-End Collision near Pellicano Drive

EL PASO, TX (April 1, 2024) – Thursday, Isidro Ruiz Jr. was killed and Enrique Pena was arrested after a DUI crash on George Dieter Drive.

Around 12:25 a.m., police responded to the 1500 block of George Dieter near Pellicano Drive on March 28th.

For DUI related reasons, Pena rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at the intersection, driven by Ruiz, while heading south on George Dieter Drive.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 42-year-old Ruiz Jr., of Fabens dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Pena suffered from minor injuries.

Following preliminary duties, authorities confirmed that Pena was under the influence of alcohol at the scene. Police have filed murder charges against Pena and placed him into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $650,000 bond.

Emergency personnel closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations.
