58-Year-Old Delano Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Wallace Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 1, 2024) – Early Thursday morning, Edward Alba was fatally struck in a pedestrian crash on Pond Road.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 6:38 a.m., near Wallace Road.  

Based on the initial investigation, the driver of a westbound Nissan Sentra struck a man who was crossing Pond Road in a south direction. After initial tasks, police said the victim walked directly into the path of the Nissan just west of Wallace Road. 

Responding medical personnel declared the 58-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased victim as Alba, of Delano.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Delano man driving the Nissan remained at the site of the crash and cooperated with the authorities. 

Police do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the collision. Once available, further details will be provided.
