Marianna Pickens-Quiroz & Christopher Vanderslice Killed in 4-Vehicle Crash on Highway 36 [Abilene, TX]
Two Pronounced Dead after Four-Vehicle Collision near Eula
ABILENE, TX (March 25, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, Marianna Pickens-Quiroz and Christopher Vanderslice were killed in a 4-vehicle crash on Highway 36.
Authorities responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m., near Eula on March 10th.
Officers say 19-year-old Theophilus Heryanto was driving a BMW attempted to overtake a pickup-truck while traveling at a high rate of speed. As a result, the BMW collided head-on with a Nissan Versa, driven by Pickens-Quiroz.
In addition, the pickup-truck, driven by 31-year-old Brandon Runnels became involved. Debris from the collision also struck a fourth vehicle.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 26-year-old Pickens-Quiroz and 26-year-old Vanderslice deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics took Heryanto to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
