Woman Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Accident on Lozanos Road [Newcastle, CA]
60-Year-Old Woman Killed in Truck Vs. Bicycle Collision near Ophir Elementary School
NEWCASTLE, CA (March 20, 2024) – Late Monday morning, a bicycle accident on Lozanos Road left a female bicyclist fatally injured.
The collision happened around 10:50 a.m., near Ophir Elementary School in Placer County.
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain under investigation. However, the California Highway Patrol claimed a truck hit the bicyclist, leaving her with fatal injuries.
Responding medical personnel declared the 60-year-old woman riding the bicycle dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.
Additionally, a portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
In the end, officials placed the Ophir Elementary School on lockdown as crews investigated the scene.
