Three Hospitalized after Head-On DUI Collision near Paseo de Valencia
LAGUNA HILLS, CA (March 20, 2022) – Wednesday, Alexya Garcia, and Nathalie Berrelleza were hurt and William Martensen was arrested after a crash.
Officers responded to the scene around 6:00 p.m., on Los Alisos Boulevard near Paseo De Valencia and Laguna Hills High School.
According to reports, a drunk driver lost control and crashed into the center median before colliding head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
The impact left 15-year-old Alexya Garcia, 16-year-old Nathalie Berrelleza, and her mother injured. Investigators claimed that the three were on their way home from a water polo game.
Responding medical personnel transported the three occupants to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Meanwhile, police arrested the suspect, identified as 39-year-old William Martensen for felony DUI. Reports indicate that Martensen pleaded guilty to four DUI cases since 2007.
The family of Garcia started a GoFundMe page to help Alexya as well as the two other victims.
