Ailahni Martinez Dies in Pedestrian Accident on West Street [Woodland, CA]
2-Year-Old Girl Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Court Street
WOODLAND, CA (March 20, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, a pedestrian accident on West Street claimed the life of Ailahni Martinez.
Police responded to the scene around 3:45 p.m., at the 300 block of West Street near Court Street.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the driver of a black Dodge truck left the vehicle running at a gas station pump with a 3-year-old inside. The truck rolled forward and hit a 2-year-old girl sitting on a table.
The 2-year-old girl sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Later, the family identified the deceased child as Ailahni Sanchez Martinez.
Crews also said the 3-year-old inside the Dodge was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
At this time, no arrests have been made and the authorities are working to acquire surveillance footage to be sent to the district attorney’s office for review. Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal West Street collision to contact the Woodland Police Department.
