45-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Bus Crash near Southern Avenue

MESA, AZ (March 19, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, police responded to a 3-vehicle collision on Gilbert Road that killed Joseph Christenson.

The incident occurred near Southern Avenue around 5:40 a.m., on March 9th.

For reasons under investigation, Christenson was driving a vehicle east when he veered off the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a Valley Metro bus and a truck.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 45-year-old Christenson deceased.

Emergency crews blocked off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more details will be provided.
