37-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Collision near 22nd Street

TUCSON, AZ (March 19, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Chirag Lilabhai Patel was killed in a motorcycle crash on Aviation Parkway.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 8:00 a.m., near 22nd Street on March 5th.

Per reports, Patel was riding a blue Yamaha motorcycle east and turned left onto eastbound 22nd Street on a green light. There, the rider collided with a blue 2010 Toyota Corolla traveling through a red light, driven by a 27-year-old woman.

Paramedics arrived and took 37-year-old Patel to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, authorities evaluated the driver who displayed no signs of impairment. She also sustained minor injuries, and paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital.

Following preliminary duties, police say the Toyota’s failure to yield the right-of-way was a major factor. However, no arrests were made.
