23-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Beattie Park
LOMPOC, CA (March 14, 2023) – Saturday, Daniel Cortez was killed and Gezel Viveros was arrested after a hit-and-run on East Olive Avenue.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m., near Beattie Park at the 1102 block of East Olive Avenue on February 10th.
According to reports, the driver of a vehicle struck Cortez and immediately fled the scene without rendering aid.
Responding medical personnel transported the pedestrian to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria where he succumbed to his injuries. Later, Lompoc Officials identified the deceased man as 23-year-old Daniel Arias Cortez.
Following the investigation, police managed to arrest 23-year-old Gezel Viveros for felony hit-and-run, causing death or injury. Those who witnessed the pedestrian crash are encouraged to contact the Lompoc Police Department Detective Burea at 805-736-2341.
