50-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pickup-Truck Collision near McCracken Road
MODESTO, CA (March 12, 2024) – Early Thursday morning, a pedestrian crash on Highway 33 took the life of Byron Gonzalez.
Around 5:00 a.m., police responded to the southbound lanes of the freeway near McCracken Road.
California Highway Patrol officers say a Stockton resident driving a southbound Nissan pickup-truck hit a man who was walking in the traffic lanes.
Upon impact, the male pedestrian sustained fatal injuries. Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 50-year-old Gonzalez.
Following preliminary duties, police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision. At this time, no arrests have been made in relation to the incident.
Modesto Officials closed both lanes of Highway 33 between McCracken Avenue and Welty Road for investigation. Once available, further details will be provided.
